Special   performance “AKIN” by Theresa Lekberg, Riako Napitupulu and RAVENATIVE

Soy & Synth, is Soydivision's monthly culinary and experimental music performance showcase. Soy, with its very general (some might say western) association with asian identity and its versatility, provides Soydivision with the culinary foundation, while the synthesizer plays an analogous role in the performances. As with all Soydivision events, there will be food inspired by their Indonesian background and their experiences living in Germany in general and Berlin in particular. Food will be available from 19:00 pm to 21:30 pm, follows by special performance afterward.

Akin We are alike. We love, we hurt, we long and we die. We fear the unfamiliar. We are so very similar in our unsimilarities. Meeting the unfamiliar in ourselves the smallest shifts makes us shy away. Experiencing pain life becomes urgent. Be it physical, emotional or psychic eventually the pain becomes unbearable and change inevitable.Down on our knees we all turn to prayer. We come to a stop. We hold hands. We are familiar to this, to the unfamiliar. We are alike in our differences. We belong in our fear of not belonging. Fear of the unfamiliar is what separates and unites us. It shows us our capacity to stay put even if we shiver. It is the sum of our actions and the weighing of the heart. Fear looked in the eye tremble, subsides to a power greater the human mind. A force to be reckoned with, violent and tender, lay us down in grace. I am coming from very very close.

Theresa Lekberg is a performance artist. She uses different mediums in her art such as film and photography. She uses her body to express the unknown. Creating symbols, ceremony and rite as tools for transgressing the imagined pain of crossing emotional, physical and spiritual barriers into regeneration. Touching the borders of life, death, dream, erotic and sacred, determined to make the unseen seen. Theresa Lekberg is based in Sweden, she is a producer and co-founder of 'Art See Ocean Gallery & Artist in Residence'.

Riako Napitupulu, born in Wuppertal and grew up in Düsseldorf, is a german-indonesian-japanese painter, performance artist, art therapist and educator. She moves in diverse cultures and languages between different worlds. Her focus is on participatory art projects in public space.
